The world of auctions can be full of shipping-related horror stories for buyers, who are often forced to deal with auctioneers who wash their hands of any responsibility for shipping the items they sell, or packaging and shipping companies that seem only to be vying to provide a winning bidder with the most exorbitant charge possible. We at Material Culture want to make sure that this never happens to our clients.
We aim instead to facilitate the shipping of the items you won at auction safely, securely, and at the least possible cost to you. We will provide you with a quote that covers packing, shipping and insurance, for rugs and textiles. Shipping remains your financial responsibility, but we consider it our responsibility to cut out as many of the inflated costs as possible, and pass the savings to you. With certain items, we may choose for a variety of reasons to place a note that an object “requires 3rd party shipping” in the auction catalog. This does not mean we stop looking out for your best interest, only that we will work responsibly with you and your shipper.
If you live in the tri-state Philadelphia metropolitan area, we can deliver your items ourselves, but if you live outside of this region, we work directly with the United Parcel Service and outside shippers to bring them to your door. In some cases, we may need to work with other specialized companies, but we always have your best interest in mind.
