About The KANPE Foundation

KANPE, meaning “to stand up” in Haitian Creole, is a foundation co-founded by Régine Chassagne, of the Grammy-winning band Arcade Fire, and Dominique Anglade, a prominent leader in business, politics, and academia in Canada. Since 2006, Arcade Fire has helped raise more than $12 million in support of Haiti.

This year, KANPE proudly celebrates its 15th anniversary of empowering underserved rural communities in Haiti’s Central Plateau through a holistic and integrated model across six pillars: leadership, entrepreneurship and economic development, education, healthcare, agroforestry, and infrastructure. KANPE is a registered charity in both the United States and Canada.

Régine Chassagne – KANPE Co-Founder
Born in Montreal to Haitian parents who fled the Duvalier dictatorship, Régine has always carried Haiti in her voice and vision. As co-founder of the Grammy-winning band Arcade Fire, she gave the world Haïti, a song that captures both the strength and the beauty of her heritage.

Her commitment goes far beyond music. In 2010, she co-founded KANPE to unite the Haitian diaspora and build lasting, community-driven solutions in Haiti. Through Arcade Fire, she has also helped raise over $12 million for Haitian causes, transforming concerts into a movement of solidarity that connects fans worldwide to the heart of her ancestral land.

Paul Beaubrun – KANPE Board Member
Born into Haiti’s legendary musical family Boukman Eksperyans, Paul grew up surrounded by rhythm and song. After moving to New York, he shaped a sound that blends his heritage with the pulse of the city, where music, activism, and history meet.

In 2022, he joined Arcade Fire while continuing his solo career and advocacy. A passionate mentor for Haiti’s youth, Paul uses his voice on stage and beyond to amplify Haitian art and culture, and through his work with KANPE, he helps create opportunities for the next generation.
