Why is flipping the PA State Senate essential to Pennsylvania’s future?
First, the PA State Senate is where good bills passed by the House go to die. Last session, 350 bills were passed by the House, were never brought up in or and passed by the Senate, and thus never arrived at Governor Shapiro’s desk.
That’s the negative way of expressing it. Here’s a more positive take:
What Does A Democratic Trifecta in PA Look Like?
A Growth Agenda with a Focus On:
1) Affordability
2) Investments in Jobs, Innovation and Economic Development
3) Funding for Transit and Transportation
Specific Bills That Can Pass with a Trifecta Would Include:
4) Increase in Minimum Wage
5) Paid Family and Medical Leave
6) Protection for Reproductive Health Care
7) Expansion of K-12 Education Funding
8) Expansion of College and Job Training Funding
9) Enactment of Common Sense Gun Safety Laws
This year, there are four state senate seats in PA that can flip, plus one (James Malone) that we will have to work hard to protect. At the moment, Republicans hold 27 seats and Democrats hold 23.
CHRIS THOMAS BIO:
Chris comes from a family of veterans, coal miners, educators, and corrections officers; people who woke up early, stayed late, and believed in the dignity of hard work. Those roots shaped his commitment to fairness, opportunity, and fighting for families who are doing everything right and still falling behind.
He started his work in construction before becoming a middle school math and science teacher, where he saw firsthand how underfunded schools and broken systems fail both students and educators. From there, he moved from the classroom into community organizing, building grassroots power across Montgomery and Berks counties. Chris and his Wife, Lydia, reside in Perkiomenville, PA.
Chris is also a volunteer firefighter who believes leadership means showing up when people need you most, not just when it’s convenient.
Now, he’s running for Pennsylvania State Senate in District 24 to take on the cost-of-living crisis and stand up for working families. He believes no one should have to choose between groceries and prescriptions, heat and rent, or child care and keeping the lights on.
Chris is running to fully and fairly fund public schools, lower everyday costs, and make healthcare accessible and affordable for everyone — because the government should work for the people, not the powerful.

JAMES MALONE BIO:
After his HISTORIC Special Election victory in March of 2025, State Senator James Malone became the FIRST Democrat to hold his seat since 1890. He is the first Latino Senator in Pennsylvania, and is ready to continue making history in November
He was the FIRST candidate endorsed by Governor Josh Shapiro and Lt. Governor Austin Davis. Malone has also been endorsed by the Humane PA, APSCUF, SEIU, Committee to Protect Healthcare, CASA, Iron Workers Local 3, Boilermakers 13, PSEA, AFL-CIO, PPFFA, IBEW 743, AFT, Central PA Building Trades, and PA SNAP.
Malone’s priorities reflect those of his constituents. From public school access and affordability to common-sense gun laws, he truly is a champion of the people. Specifically, after being sworn in, he has focused on:
1) Fully funding our public schools to give every child a fair shot no matter their zip-code.
2) Lowering costs for everyday essentials and housing for working families.
3) Funding our local law enforcement to keep our communities safe and supporting the brave people who put their lives on the line every day for us.
4) Protecting our farmlands.
5) Protecting our fundamental freedoms and ensuring Pennsylvania remains a place of opportunity for everyone.
6) Giving municipalities the control they deserve to protect their communities from the harms of data centers and big tech.
7) Senator Malone’s re-election race is one of the most expensive and competitive in the state, so he is reaching across the Commonwealth for support.
